Dr. Anthony’s career began in her grandmother’s kitchen. Because of her grandmother’s cooking lessons, she determined early on that a career in culinary arts was the right path. Dr. Anthony attended two of the top culinary schools in the United States. She earned an associates in culinary arts and a bachelors in culinary arts management from the Culinary Institute of America. She earned her masters is hospitality administration finance from Johnson & Wales University and she earned her doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix – School of Advanced Studies.
Dr. Anthony has worked for Sodexo, Inc. in the healthcare segment, in corporate dining, and in higher education – holding the positions chef manager, retail manager, food safety manager, operations manager, and general manager. Dr. Anthony has also worked for Manassas City Public Schools as the food and nutrition services director. Her accomplishments in this position include applying for and receiving a grant to place 4 salad bars in her schools, teaching students cooking techniques through cooking demos, implementing a catering program, launching a weekend meal back pack program for students, participating in the Chefs Move to Schools movement by partnering with a local chef/owner, implementing a natural snack vending program in her schools, and being innovative by serving whole grains and offering more fresh fruits and vegetables to students well before the “Let’s Move” initiative began. Dr. Anthony also teaches hospitality and nutrition courses as an adjunct professor at the University of Phoenix and at Stratford University. She owns a hospitality management recruiting business and she and her husband own a healthy vending machine company.
